The local towns and villages all have festivals during the summer months - usually to celebrate the crop in season - cherries, peaches, chestnuts, wild asparagus etc. They usually offer food,market stalls,music and fireworks.

The mountains behind Palombara form part of the Monti Lucretili - a regional park - that offers vast areas of unspoiled scenery,ideal for walking and spotting wild orchids, many other flowers and a wide selection of birds. A couple of eagles have their nest in the mountains.Animals are also left free to graze, so you may meet goats, wild horses or the local breed of cow, with its large white horns.

The nearby sulphur-water swimming pools - 'Terme di Cretone' - are famous in Lazio. There are 3 pools surrounded by trees, and it's a great place to see the Italians at play! It also has a self-service restaurant, pizzeria in the evening, and offers spa treatments, massages etc. The pools are open from the end of May till the end of September.

The flat has a double bedroom, bathroom, living room (with double bed-settee) and fully equipped kitchen.We make and sell olive oil and wine.An outside staircase leads upstairs.The small pool in the garden has a waterfall, ideal for cooling off - and should you want to swim , there are some beautiful sulphur-water swimming pools just 2km down the road.The nearby mountains are ideal for walking and bird-watching, and if you hire a car there are endless fascinating places to visit - such as Tivoli, Montelibretti, Moricone and the Abbey at Farfa. The train station is 4km away, with a service into Rome every 15 minutes. There is also a bus service to the station, and to Palombara. We offer the chance to do some basic pottery, learn Italian or make your own pasta!
